Thigh and buttock lift - what you need to know.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A THIGH AND BUTTOCK LIFT IS A COSMETIC SURGERY PROCEDURE THAT LIFTS THE THIGH AND/OR BUTTOCK AREA, WHICH THEN HELPS TO PROVIDE A TIGHTER AND FIRMER LOOK.

Below we explore everything you need to know about having a thigh and buttock lift.

WHY HAVE A THIGH AND BUTTOCK LIFT SURGERY?

Women choose to have this cosmetic surgery for a variety of reasons. They may be self conscious about their lower body and choose not to wear shorts or tight jeans. They may have lost weight and as a result the skin has lost its elasticity. The skin in that area may also have started to sag, or the skin may have a dimpled effect. All of these are reasons to consider a thigh and buttock lift.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THIS PROCEDURE?

This procedures should last no longer than two hours, and is carried out under general anaesthetic. This is usually as a day case. Incisions to either the thigh or buttocks will be made, depending on the area that has loose skin and which needs to be lifted. Inner thighs generally only need short incisions to the skin, while lifting the thigh and buttocks requires longer incisions. This excess skin is removed, and sometimes liposuction is also used to suck out any excess fat. The area of skin is then sutured.

WHAT HAPPENS POST OPERATIVE RECOVERY?

It will take between 6 to 8 weeks to make a full recovery. You will be able to go home following the procedures, once you have been given care at home instructions, have eaten and drank, and passed urine. You will feel some discomfort for the first few days following surgery, but the tightened and lifted area should not feel painful. You may also be requested to wear a compression bandage to aid the healing process and to avoid swelling. You should avoid heavy lifting for at least six weeks.

ARE THE RESULTS LONG LASTING?

This procedure does have long lasting effects, as long as you do not gain or lose lots of weight. It’s also important to remember that the entire body changes as we age, including our thighs and buttocks.
