Thighlighting: a new trend in celebrity cosmetic surgery.

Thighlighting a new trend in celebrity cosmetic surgeryIT’S OFTEN CELEBRITIES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR STARTING NEW COSMETIC SURGERY TRENDS – AND THE LATEST BIG TREND IS NO DIFFERENT.

THANKS TO STARS LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT, BELLA HADID, KENDALL JENNER AND JENNIFER LOPEZ, WE’RE NOW SEEING A RISE IN THE POPULARITY OF “THIGHLIGHTING”.

Thighlighting is essentially a complete makeover for the leg: a series of procedures that could include liposuction using micro power assisted or vaser techniques, a thigh lift, calf implants, inner thigh contouring or outer thigh contouring – or a combination of any of these, depending on the results the individual is looking for. Various plastic surgeons from the US to the UK have reported an increase in women looking for these types of procedure, with women becoming increasingly concerned about the appearance of their thighs, and looking for a surgical solution.
The whole procedure generally takes no more than a few hours, with those who choose to undergo thighlighting generally able to go home on the same day as the surgery takes place.
The results of the thighlighting surgery bring both physical and psychological benefits. It can help to make the thighs look longer than they are, and streamline a woman’s overall appearance, as well as improving the proportions of the body and giving a brand new look to the contours of the leg. Psychologically, the procedure can also boost a woman’s confidence, ensuring that she both looks and feels comfortable in public.
Thighlighting became so popular as a result of the body-hugging dresses that celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Taylor Swift are often seen wearing at public events, with high splits exposing a long expanse of thigh. Recent fashion trends have also contributed to the popularity of the procedure, with more and more current catwalk fashions including either dresses that expose the thighs, or figure-hugging outfits, both of which require a great deal of confidence to wear.
The cost of thighlighting can vary, and it all depends on the extent of the work that each individual would like to be done. As a combination of multiple different procedures, it’s a cosmetic surgery that can be tailored exactly to individual needs. It’s just the latest in a number of cosmetic surgery trends that are driven by celebrities… who knows what the next will be?

Meghan Markle's nose tops cosmetic surgery lists

Every plastic surgeon in London knows that requests to look like celebrities are commonplace, and, up till now, it’s been lip fillers and buttock enhancements that have been some of the most popular, thanks to the Kardashians.
In November 2017, though, Prince Harry announced his engagement to girlfriend Meghan Markle, and we’re finding that, as a result, the Kardashians are being knocked off the top spot in favour of the new soon-to-be royal.
It’s not the first time that a royal wedding has led to a shift in trends, though: after William and Kate’s wedding, the number of requests for a butt lifts surged, thanks to footage of Pippa Middleton on the day.

AND NOW IT’S MEGHAN MARKLE’S TURN, WITH HER NOSE PROVING A HIT WITH WOMEN UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY.

The Suits actress’ nose is the inspiration behind a huge number of current rhinoplasty requests, thanks to its straight profile and defined tip, which can only be seen when looking at her sideways on. It may not be a nose that’s as ‘perfect’ as other celebrities who have inspired rhinoplasty trends in the past (the likes of Jessica Alba, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson all have noses that have been requested by huge numbers of rhinoplasty patients), but it’s a nose that has character, and one that could well signal a shift in cosmetic surgery trends.
For many, cosmetic surgery isn’t about going under the knife to look perfect, it’s simply about creating a look with which the patient is happy. Meghan Markle’s nose veers more towards the girl next door look than, for example, the perfection of the Kardashians’ features, which have been popular for so long.
Of course, it’s not just Markle’s nose that’s proving popular: the sharpness of her jawline and the profile of her cheekbones are also being more widely requested from plastic surgeons. While the royal family are loved by some and loathed by others, one thing is definitely clear: when it comes to the way they look, they’re setting trends in the worlds of fashion, hair, beauty and cosmetic surgery alike.

Is plastic surgery responsible for people quitting smoking?

It’s now estimated that around 15% of people smoke in the UK. This figure, of course, has fallen rapidly over the years thanks to measures such as the smoking ban and the increased taxation on cigarettes. But could it be that there’s another reason why more and more people are choosing to quit?

A NEW STUDY HAS FOUND THAT COSMETIC SURGERY IS ONE OF THE DRIVING FORCES BEHIND PEOPLE GIVING UP CIGARETTES.

The research – carried out by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver – found that 40% of patients who had undergone cosmetic surgery no longer smoked on a daily basis following the procedure. Meanwhile, 70% of those surveyed admitted to cutting down on smoking following pre and post-surgery consultations with their doctor.
It’s not unusual for patients to be asked to refrain from smoking both before and after undergoing cosmetic surgery. This is because the use of cigarettes can slow down a person’s immune system and restrict the flow of blood in their blood vessels – both of which can lead to delayed or compromised recovery following an operation. In particular, continuing smoking can be extremely detrimental for those who have tummy tucks, facelifts or breast lifts (amongst other procedures).
Dr Aaron Van Slyke – a lead author in the study – was personally unsurprised by the results of the research. Instead, he felt the survey just further outlined how much people are interested in improving their lifestyle when they decide to go under the knife.
Reflecting on the results, he commented: “This is consistent with previous research showing patients who seek to obtain cosmetic surgery are more motivated to sustain positive lifestyle changes.” He added: “The dialogue between plastic surgeon and patient during the cosmetic surgery consultation serves as a unique moment to provide targeted smoking cessation counselling that may persist well beyond the surgical interaction.”

PLASTIC SURGERY CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
WHILE IT’S PROMISING THAT RESEARCH SHOWS PLASTIC SURGERY CAN HELP PATIENTS QUIT SMOKING, THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH GOING UNDER THE KNIFE AND IMPROVING YOUR APPEARANCE – SUCH AS INCREASED SELF-CONFIDENCE. Rebekah Vardy reveals boob job plans during I'm A Celeb

REBEKAH VARDY WAS WATCHED BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ON A NIGHTLY BASIS AFTER HER APPEARANCE ON THIS YEAR’S I’M A CELEBRITY… GET ME OUT OF HERE.

Rebekah-Vardy-reveals-Boob-job
Between Bushtucker Trials and scantily-clad showers, the WAG has been telling her fellow campmates how she plans to go under the knife when the show is over and done with. In particular, she’s set her sights on a second boob job. During a recent episode on ITV, Rebekah told her fellow campmates: “I am going to get them redone in January next year. Amazing.”
The public revelation shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to those who know a bit about Rebekah. After all, the 35-year-old has previously admitted to having a breast enhancement as well as Botox. When quizzed about having cosmetic surgery during an interview with Mail Online in 2016, the footballer’s wife said: “I’ve had a boob job, too. I can’t bear it when women lie about this stuff. I go in the sun and I’ve hardly got any wrinkles. It’s not nature, it’s Botox.”
Rebekah won’t be the first person to have cosmetic surgery after leaving the Jungle. Last year’s winner Scarlett Moffatt has previously had lip fillers and Botox. Scarlett has also refused to rule out a breast reduction should she decide one is necessary in the future. Earlier this year, she told Heat magazine: “They’re a G-cup now, and I’d love them to be a D-cup. I definitely think I’ll do it in the next couple of years, but I would like to try to lose a bit of weight first, to see if they go down naturally.”
Meanwhile, 2015’s victor Vicky Pattison also had a boob job just like Rebekah. Speaking about the decision before joining the show, Geordie Shore star Vicky told Now! magazine: “I thought about the boobs for 10 months.” She added: “It was the only option for me to be body confident, and I’m pleased I did it.”
Are you inspired?
Although Rebekah won’t be this year’s Queen of the Jungle after her elimination from the show, it seems a foregone conclusion that she’ll be treating herself to a boob job. If you’re inspired to follow in her footsteps – or if you fancy any other procedure – get in touch with the Belvedere Clinic for information.
